In Sync Center of the Arts offers classes in all styles of dance, group music, guitar, voice, drums, piano, art, tae kwon do and even a Lego Club! In Sync’s version of the ballet is 1 ½ hours long, perfect for young audience members. This year, In Sync students and families are also invited to a Tea Party and open rehearsal on Saturday, February 13 from 11:30 AM-1:00 PM, where they can enjoy treats, meet cast members, and watch them work. “Alice In Wonderland” has inspired creative props, costumes, and surprising touches that will delight audiences. Maggie Crowley, Ballet Program director, has been working to create choreography that blends contemporary and classical ballet while showcasing her students’ skills. Teri Mangiaratti, director of In Sync Center of the Arts, tells us, "We are proud to give our dancers the opportunity to perform classical ballet. The ballet follows Alice on her journey down the rabbit hole as she meets the White Rabbit, flowers and butterflies, the March Hare, the Mad Hatter, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee, dancing cards, flamingos, hedgehogs and the Queen of Hearts. Students are inspired to move beyond steps and technique to be truly expressive in their dancing.
Based on the classic children’s book and set to a variety of classical music,, the performance features In Sync ballet and contemporary dance students ages 7-18 from Milton, Quincy, Weymouth, and the surrounding area.Įvery year, In Sync’s ballet program stages a story ballet, giving their students a chance to experience the artistic challenges that come with telling a story through dance.
